How To Spot Media Bias: Scandal Selection Edition

POLITICO’S Dylan Byers is lecturing the conservative media this morning. You see, rubes, there’s no media bias because the media is reporting on things the media doesn’t like about the Obama administration. Let’s just ignore how the media downplayed Fast and Furious or Benghazi. No, silly conservatives, those were “conspiracy theories” not legitimate scandals.

To those conservative journalists who believe the media is giving Obama a free pass, my advice to you is: Stop complaining and go report. And when you do, don’t come back with another conspiracy theory. Come back with a memo.

Because there weren’t memos and emails regarding Fast and Furious or something.

Byers is a hack. He basically gets his topics from Media Matters. Ironically, his little lecture reveals how the media – even though they’re finally talking about something they don’t like about Obama – is biased in favor of a leftist agenda. The real scandal, according to the lefty media, is how the Obama administration is justifying the targeting and killing of US citizens who also happen to be terrorists. All that other stuff was just loony conspiracy theory stuff.

Granted, this should trouble everyone, left or right. And it does. The conservative media has been talking about this for a while. Of course, conservatives don’t have a problem with picking off terrorists, but when that terrorist is a US citizen, there’s a problem. We still believe in due process for US citizens, regardless of what they’re doing. The left, however, thinks everyone should get due process under the constitution – even known terrorists who aren’t citizens. They wailed and cried when three known terrorists were waterboarded. They threatened impeachment of George Bush over it. There were protests and threats of arrest. Maybe Byers knows something I don’t, but I don’t see anything like that regarding Obama and his policies.

And that’s where the bias is revealed. They’re JUST NOW getting around to investigating this stuff. They couldn’t be bothered with it before the election even though the drone strikes were nothing new.

So please spare me the lecture, Dylan. Your decision to finally call this a scandal doesn’t suddenly mean the media isn’t biased. It actually proves the bias we’ve been highlighting for years.
