Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has quickly become the latest target for the Democrat Media Complex. They’ve all but declared war on the freshman senator in recent days, even comparing him to Joe McCarthy for daring to grill the blatantly incompetent nominee to be the next Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel.

As I’ve discussed before, the mainstream media has forgotten that its role is to challenge all politicians. Instead, they’ve taken up the role of “Defenders of All Things Obama.” Sure, they’ll go after Obama a little from the left on occasion, but the bulk of their reporting is geared towards diminishing those who oppose the president. The Washington Free Beacon chronicles the phenomenon perfectly regarding the Hagel nomination. I encourage you to read the whole thing.

Ted Cruz is an up-and-comer on the national stage, so next to Marco Rubio, he’s getting the bulk of the attacks from the Democrat Media Complex right now. The media, having actually admitted Hagel’s performance during the confirmation hearings was disastrous, has chosen to ignore that reality and focus on the people causing trouble for Hagel and by extension, the Chosen One.

The attacks are fast and furious. The Washington Post even said Cruz “crossed a line” by insinuating Hagel, who has failed to disclose a couple of speeches, has something to hide. I’m not even going to bother to check if Ruth Marcus ever asked the same of Harry Reid and Romney’s tax returns. I’m 99.9% sure she said nothing.

Now comes a story out of POLITICO where they dug up some unsourced “reports” attributed to “Republican senators” to lend a little bipartisan cred to the Democrat Media Complex’s attack on Ted Cruz:

Behind closed doors, some Republican senators report that Cruz, in his stone-cold serious prosecutorial style, speaks at length when it’s far more common for freshmen to wait before asserting themselves — particularly ones who were just sworn in.

See that “some Republican senators report” stuff? That means some unnamed GOP aide told someone that someone said, etc. Anyway, then POLITICO goes on to do what they planned to do from the start which was to parrot the Democrat talking points against Cruz. Yawn.

Curious as to who in the GOP was assisting the Democrat Media Complex attack on Ted Cruz, I reached out to a Senate source – yes, we lowly bloggers have those too – and was told an interesting story. A colleague of the source asked a reporter for a major news outlet who was pitching the Cruz stuff to them. The reporter said it was the editor.

That’s right. Instead of sending reporters out to do what The Washington Free Beacon has done – vetting Hagel – at least one editor for a major news organization is sending out a reporter to dig up how much trouble Cruz is causing within the GOP.

Amazing.

Now the question is if editors are being pitched by Democrats with all this Cruz stuff or if the media have simply assumed Democrats want Cruz diminished and are being good little lapdogs hoping to get a pat on the head. Yes, I know the media excuse will be “there’s a story there” and pretend the public cares about inside baseball more than they care about whether the next Secretary of Defense is an incompetent anti-semite or not. The fact of the matter is that this is agenda-driven “journalism” – the politics of personal destruction – not a sincere effort to inform the public on important issues.

Cruz is liked by Minority Leader McConnell and others in GOP leadership. All this ankle-biting stuff is an attempt to deflect from just how horrible Chuck Hagel is as the nominee for Secretary of Defense.

Period.

So they don’t like a Senator who speaks up for himself/his constituents? Boo-freaking-hoo.

We all must get Cruz out front with his courage, and protect him from the State-Run Media gang.

Poor Dems hate it when one of the antisemitic leaders is called out.
