Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) has no problem playing the race card as a means of winning his U.S. Senate bid.  Earlier this week he compared the Citizens United case on campaign finance to the Dred Scot decision upholding slavery. Watch:

Text of his remarks:

I want to go to the United States Senate in order to fight for a constitutional amendment to repeal Citizens United. The whole idea that the Koch brothers and Karl Rove can say we’re coming into Massachusetts, to any state of the union with undisclosed amounts of money is pollution, which must be changed. Constitution must be amended. The Dred Scott decision had to be repealed, we have to repeal Citizens United.

Really, Ed? Dred Scot? Slavery? Please. I don’t even know where to begin on this nonsense other than to say Democrats everywhere should be embarrassed by this clown, but they won’t be. In fact, they’ll probably sing his praises from the rooftops. Of course, can you imagine what the reaction would be if a Republican made a comparison using the Dred Scot case? I can.

I have no doubt every employee over at MSNBC would be running around, palms up, screaming ‘RACIST!!!” into every camera they could find.
