Alec Baldwin Accused of Racist Tirade

It looks like Alec Baldwin has gone on yet another rude and offensive tirade. The good news? It wasn’t directed at his daughter this time. The bad news? It was directed at reporters and involved not only grabbing a woman, but using racial slurs and sexually explicit remarks. From the NY Post:

Actor Alec Baldwin allegedly called a black Post photographer a racial epithet, a “crackhead” and a “drug dealer” during a confrontation on an East Village street yesterday morning, prompting police to intervene.

Baldwin had first been approached by a Post reporter while walking his dogs outside his East 10th Street pad at around 10:50 a.m. He was asked for comment on a lawsuit against his wife, Hilaria, involving her work as a yoga instructor.

The “30 Rock’’ star grabbed the reporter, Tara Palmeri, by her arm and told her, “I want you to choke to death,” Palmeri told police, for whom she played an audiotape of the conversation.

He then called G.N. Miller — a decorated retired detective with the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau and a staff photographer for The Post — a “coon, a drug dealer,’’ Miller’s police statement said.

I see the ‘tolerant left’ has struck again. Alec is just lucky he’s a huge Liberal. I mean, can you imagine if a Republican was accused of using that kind of language? MSNBC would run it on a loop, but since it’s him, they likely won’t mention it at all.

UPDATE: Reports have surfaced that the audio tape of this altercation reveals no racial slurs were used by Baldwin during the altercation. From Good Men:

A story being pushed earlier today by Fox News and other celebrity news outlets reports that Alec Baldwin called a black reporter a “coon”. The story alleges that Baldwin yelled racial slurs at New York Post reporters. (The New York Post is also owned by Fox News head Rupert Murdoch.) Since then, the story has exploded on Twitter. People are calling Baldwin a bigot and demanding that he be blacklisted by Hollywood.

The comments on Twitter have attacked Baldwin mercilessly as a bigot and a racist.

Now audio has surfaced of the altercation. United Press International and TMZ are reporting that Baldwin did not use racial slurs of any kind. TMZ who has info about the tape has cleared Baldwin. They say:

New info on the audio tape of the confrontation between Baldwin and the Post photog.  Sources tell us … there is NO mention of a racial slur on the tape.  And, we’re told, the initial story — that Baldwin allegedly said “I want to choke you to death” — is incorrect.  We’re told in fact Baldwin said, “I want you to choke to death,” which is exactly what Baldwin claimed he said.

If what these outlets are reporting is accurate, and I have no reason to believe it isn’t, Baldwin’s accusers owe him an apology and might even find themselves the target of legal action as well they should.
