The Incoherence of the Anti-Gun Crowd

As you’ve heard, the head of the NRA today took the media / entertainment industry to the woodshed and beat them like red-headed step-children. In the midst of that, he also proposed a very common sense proposal: Armed security in schools.

He went big and proposed a federal program / mandate to have armed security in every school in America. That’s not exactly a “conservative” approach – which would be to leave that decision to the state and local governments – but it does start the conversation based on an acceptance of reality (guns aren’t going to disappear even if they’re banned) instead of this maniacal nonsense the media has been up to for the last week or so.

I’m sure researching every mass shooting will show a high correlation between when the mass shooting stopped – usually with the gunman shooting himself – and when other people showed up with guns – usually the police. A rational debate would end up with a consensus opinion that armed guards would be a significant deterrent to lunatics intent on picking off  defenseless people. That’s why there are armed guards at most government buildings.

But no. The left is out there bashing the idea because it is based on reality, not their utopian ideal of a world without guns where unicorns fart Skittles on demand and everything is free. They want guns banned and putting armed guards at schools would delay what they think is an achievable outcome.

They’re crazy. But we knew this.

So, let’s play offense. They claim to want to protect the children, right? It’s all about the kids. If that’s the case, their objection to armed security in schools is irresponsible. Why? Because the evil guns are still out there until Joe Biden puts together his super-duper plan that isn’t due until January. In the mean time, kids are still going to school. If everyone rose up and demanded armed guards in schools, state and local governments could make it happen tomorrow. Assign a cop to every school and then work up a plan to make the situation permanent. Tomorrow.

Banning guns will never happen, but even if there was a chance it could, it would be months before the legislation passes and years before guns magically disappear. So, if we were playing offense, we would be demanding to know why leftists don’t want to protect children tomorrow instead of months and years from now.

Why would the left be against an approach that the majority of the country agrees with? Because they don’t really care about the children. That’s why.
