Rep. McMorris-Rodgers for House Republican Conference Chair

I don’t typically do public endorsements like this, but I feel very strongly about the arising race for Chairman of the House Republican Conference. If you don’t know what the House Republican Conference is, it is the primary caucus of Republicans in the House. It aims to communicate the party’s message to the caucus, creating a united front in what Republican representatives say and do.
Since the last election, it is clear that the GOP needs a messaging makeover. So the race for this chairmanship is especially important. Not only will a Chairman of the House Republican Conference help create this new message, they’ll also serve as one of the public faces for the message. Moving forward from last Tuesday, this is very important for the party.
Past Chairs have included current Speaker of the House John Boehner, Dick Cheney, and Jack Kemp. So this chairmanship shows the country what the party plans to do with itself in the future.
One Republican running for the position is Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers.
I have been a fan of Washington McMorris-Rodgers for a long time. She is a western Republican, young, and a woman. These traits alone set her apart from much of the House GOP. But more importantly, she appears to understand the issues that faces the GOP in terms of policy and messaging over the coming months.
In a letter announcing her bid to her colleagues, McMorris-Rodgers wrote that we need “a bold vision of conservative reform, using traditional and new media and every channel available to reach America.” That is exactly what everyone is saying the GOP must do. From here on The Right Sphere, to Fox News, to elected officials to talk radio, everyone is saying this. And I believe Rep. McMorris-Rodgers is fit to take us in that direction.
The Washington congresswoman is competing with Georgia congressman Tom Price for the Chairmanship. RedState has endorsed him, with their main message being that Price has a slightly higher Heritage score when it comes to conservative bona fides. I can assure all of you: McMorris-Rodgers is nothing if not conservative. The differences between the two on votes are marginal at best.
The Republican Party should choose the person who would best present a positive conservative message to the caucus and the nation with a fresh face and a new voice. That person is Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers. Make sure your Representative knows you support her for the job.
