Enough with the Tin Foil Hats Over Petraeus and Benghazi
I assume by now everyone has heard about the resignation of David Petraeus as CIA Director. I say that because I have already seen tons and tons of people immediately assuming this is giant cover-up or conspiracy engineered by the Obama Administration to protect themselves over their disastrous performance pertaining to Libya. To all that nonsense I say this: STOP. JUST STOP.
What actually happened is most likely the following:
Petraeus had an affair dating back to his time in the military. He got wind that the affair which he had was about to become public and he decided to do the right thing and admit he had it. The most likely source of this story is someone he served with, not a grand conspiracy by President Obama or anyone in his White House. In fact, I would bet Petraeus still eventually testifies over the events in Benghazi. Having an affair or resigning doesn’t preclude him from testifying in any way. Here’s a hint: it’s called a subpoena.
I could be wrong about when the affair was or how he found out it would become public, but there is no doubt he had one. I mean, let me ask you this: Do you really think David Petraeaus would admit to committing adultery if he hadn’t? C’mon.
Everyone needs to just relax, take off the tin foil hats, and chill out.
