Biden’s “Middle Class” Gaffe: The Story The Media Won’t Touch
Posted by RB in Blog on October 3, 2012 1:52 pm / no comments
This is getting a bit tiring. There are professional “journalists” whose job is to report on things public officials and candidates are saying. Beyond that, there’s an entire group of “analysts” whose job is to take what is being reported and uncover what’s actually going on. None of them seem to be able to do their jobs when it comes to Obama or anyone in his administration.
Yesterday, Joe Biden slipped up and told a rally of supporters that “the middle class” has been “buried” over “the last four years.” The people who are supposed to report on this quietly waited for Romney’s campaign to highlight this obvious gaffe before reporting on it. So that’s problem number one.
When Biden’s team later “clarified” the statement, saying that Biden was talking about Bush’s policies hurting the middle class over the last four years, the media simply nodded and moved on. Here’s a classic example from The Washington Post. But there’s something missing. It has been missing since Obama started running for President, as I discussed here and here. And in this video, even Fox News doesn’t go for the follow up that no one ever asks.
You see, a competent media would ask Obama and his surrogates the easiest of follow up questions:
How did Bush’s tax cuts “bury” the middle class? Are you saying the Bush tax cuts caused the economic problems we’re facing? How? Do you have any data to back that up?
That’s all the media needs to do. A few simple, obvious, follow up questions and they will finally be doing what they’re supposed to be doing. Instead, we have virtual robots asking questions and letting the interviewees spew nonsense unchallenged.
This is media malpractice. They are not doing what they’re supposed to do. They get paid to do this and they don’t do it. If they did, Team Obama would be exposed for the demagogic frauds they are. The Bush Tax cuts did not cause the economic collapse and since they were across the board, there’s no way they “buried” the middle class. The claim is ludicrous but it is still being used to this day.
Why are we allowing this to happen to our country?
