So the chattering class in the media (Politico, NY Times, MSNBC) along with many “experts” (like Chuck Todd, Cokie Roberts, Joe Scarborough etc) are basically declaring the 2012 presidential race to be over after the Democratic convention which shows a small bounce for President Obama.

Let’s step back in time a little bit shall we? It’s not even that far. Early June. Wisconsin.

What were they saying back then about the Scott Walker recall race against Tom Barrett?

Chuck Todd at the start of the Daily Rundown on June 4th said, “It’s clear that this race is tight.”

In the beginning of May, The Daily Beast said the race was “neck and neck.”

Salon said the race was “down to the wire.”

ABC said “Walker’s lead in Wisconsin recall election tightens in new poll” and said “his standing has diminished in recent weeks.”

The Washington Post hyped internal Democratic polling that said the race was a “dead heat.”

Andrea Mitchell Reports – Race tightens in Wisconsin recall election.

Oh and guess who was in the state in the final days to lend support and take Barrett over the top? That’s right. Bill Clinton.

I could go on all day long.

Ahem.

Need I say more?
