Tommy points out that the GM plant mentioned by Representative Ryan still produced vehicles in 2009, contrary to what Democrats are claiming. A plant that’s producing cars can’t possibly be closed. End of argument.  However, I don’t think that’s the big story here.

The big story should be the fact that President Obama promised that the government would, and could, make sure that ” this plant will be here for another hundred years”.

I’ll repeat that: President Obama promised that the government would make sure that a manufacturing plant would survive for a whole century.

What did the President do? He revealed part of his government-centered world view, in which government should have an active role in the market, not restricted to merely creating neutral legislation. It fits rather neatly with what the President said recently in regards to the auto bailout:

Now I want to do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry.

President Obama does not understand, or particularly like, the free market. Instead he remains focused on how the government best can spend your money on the Democrats’ pet projects, such as the Volt.

That’s why President Obama is unable to propose policies that will strengthen small businesses and new entrepreneurs so that they can create jobs for working Americans. That also happens to be one of the biggest reasons to replace him with someone who has actual business experience.

  1. YES. Obama hates the free market and everything about it. He wants govt to control everything – as said in his own words. You, hammer, nail, head. Let’s vote this guy out.
