I’m not feeling very political this evening so this is all you’re going to get out of me, but it’s a doozy.

On the left in the picture below is a photograph of a “prized” Spanish fresco painting of Jesus Christ. On the right is what happened after someone decided to take it upon themselves to restore the fresco. The result is what the BBC calls “a crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic.” And that’s pretty accurate.

Worse, the local organization seeks to preserve old artworks had just received a donation from the fresco artist’s granddaughter to restore it. Now there may be no hope it will ever look even as bad as it once did.
