This morning in Danville, VA Vice-President Joe Biden asked the electorate to ask themselves the following question:

“Does the man I am going to vote for have the character of his convictions?”

Joe Biden is advocating that you not vote for a man if he lacks the character of his convictions.

Let’s take a look back and see if Barack Obama has earned your vote based on that question.

Obama promised to cut the deficit in half in his first term.
The deficit, when Obama took office, for fiscal year 2009 was $1.4 trillion. Despite controlling the White House and both Congressional chambers for the first two years of his tenure no deficit has been under $1 trillion since he took office. The GOP provided numerous deficit cutting methods, all of which the President rebuked by while his own budget received zero votes in either chamber.

Obama committed to having an “unprecedented” level of transparency.
Examples of his failure in this area are lobbyist meetings outside the White House to keep them off visitor logs, thwarting FOIA requests by media outlets and reporters, and the obfuscation of government investments using taxpayer dollars in shaky businesses owned or operated by campaign contributors.

However the home run here is Obama’s recent use of Executive Privilege to suppress the delivery of documents regarding Fast and Furious to Chairman Darrell Issa and the House Oversight Committee.

Obama promised to reduce unemployment to 6% by this year.
Unemployment has remained above 8% for Obama’s entire tenure and would be worse if it were not for the effects of those who have given up and stopped looking for work artificially reducing the rate. At the same time the President and his Democratic controlled Senate have blocked or stonewalled more than two dozen pieces of job creation legislation passed by the GOP controlled House.

Obama pledged smart, strong and fair trade policies.
During his 2008 campaign the President stumped on fair trade policies and cracking down on China and their ongoing attitude of ignoring fair and equitable trade practices. To this date Obama has done nothing to confront or reign in China’s unethical and unfair practices, to the detriment of US businesses competing in the global markets.

Obama called for more civility in politics.
Throughout his 2008 campaign and his presidency, Obama has repeatedly called for a new attitude and civility in the political process. Completely ignoring his avowals the President and his campaign team have sunk to new lows in politicking. Stephanie Cutter stated Obamacare cut $700 billion from Medicare but David Axelrod and Joe Biden cast GOP statements regarding Cutter’s remarks as lies and gutless.

The Obama campaign has accused Romney of being a felon, outright lied about various aspects of his experience at Bain Capital, and in the most egregious and vitriolic political ad in recent history, maybe of all time, accused Romney of killing a woman who regrettably had cancer.

“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
When Barack Obama spoke the above quote he was unequivocal about what his future should be if he failed to accomplish his stated goals. Now 3 years later, and a failure at virtually every level, he wants the American public to believe that he just needs more time and deserves their vote in November.

Returning to the Vice-President’s question, “does the man I am going to vote for have the character of his convictions” the only plausible answer, if you intend to vote for Barack Obama, is NO.

Not only does he lack the character of his convictions he’s willing to stoop to the lowest levels to divert attention from his legacy, so aptly described by Congressman Paul Ryan as “debt, doubt and despair”.
