Sherman Hemsley of “The Jeffersons” Dead At 74

It appears we have a second celebrity death in as many days. Coming the day after the death of Sally Ride, it is being reported that Sherman Hemsley, better known as “George Jefferson” from the hit TV Show “The Jeffersons” has died in El Paso at the age of 74. From TMZ:

Sherman Hemsley, the actor who made the character George Jefferson famous in “The Jeffersons,” has died, El Paso cops tell TMZ.

Hemsley died at his home in El Paso, Texas.

Hemsley, who was 74, became famous during his appearances on “All in the Family.”  The spin-off, “The Jeffersons” was a monster hit.

No word yet on his cause of death. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
