First of all, let me say that I don’t really hate Politico. Despite their biases (and trust me, they’re biased no matter what they say) I gotta give credit where it is due to Politico for really making online news and blogs what it is today.

That said, this is one awful headline that is a) completely misleading and b) pretty insulting:

No, I’m not going to link to the post here. It is pathetic drivel that pretty much seeks to make you think the southern governors are just completely opting out of Medicaid rather than refusing to expand it (at great cost to the states) as the Supreme Court says they have the power to do.

And I hope I don’t even have to mention the ridiculousness of using the word “secede,” as if not expanding a horribly-run government program is akin to the Civil War – where more Americans died than in any other conflict. To hint that what southern governors are doing makes them Confederates and against the Union is insulting and, well, dead wrong.

If you want actual information on this so-called secession, I suggest checking out this BusinessWeek article. It isn’t perfect, but should suffice. Also go to reformmedicaid.org and get some great information from the Heartland Institute.
