Shorter Charles M. Blow: “Those NY School Bus Bullies? Republicans.”

Never underestimate the ability of a Liberal to take an event and shape it to fit whatever narrative they wish to promote on a given day. Today’s winner? Charles M. Blow.
He has taken the horrifying incident of Karen Klein, the 68 year-old bus monitor who was taunted and harassed by three middle school boys while serving as bus monitor, and crafted it into his own personal race card. What did Charles deduce from that vile incident? That those boys, likely no more than 11-13 years old, must be Republicans because only Republicans behave that way. Stop laughing. That’s really what he came up with:
But what, if anything, does this say about society at large? Many things one could argue, but, for me, it is a remarkably apt metaphor for this moment in the American discourse in which hostility has been drawn out into the sunlight.
Those boys are us, or at least too many of us: America at it’s ugliest. It is that part of society that sees the weak and vulnerable as worthy of derision and animus.
Seems fair enough so far, right? I mean, it appears as though he’s just saying that there are a lot of mean-spirited folks out there? I can dig that. But, he wasn’t done. As expected he went off the rails:
Traditionally inferior identity roles are registered in a variety of ways. For Klein, she was elderly and female and not thin or rich. For others, it is skin color, country of origin, object of affection or some other accident of birth.
The country is changing, and that change is creating friction: between the traditional ruling classes and emerging ones; between traditional social structures and altered ones; between a long-held vision of an American ideal and growing reality that its time has passed. And that change is coming with an unrelenting swiftness.
Uh, oh. Here it comes…
These dramatic shifts are upending the majority-minority paradigm and are making many people uneasy.
The Republican-Democratic divide is increasingly becoming an all-white/multicultural divide, a male/female divide, and a more religious/less religious divide — the formers the traditional power classes, and the latters the emerging ones.
This has led to some increasingly unseemly attacks at traditionally marginalized groups, even as — and possibly particularly because — they grow more powerful.
Women are under attack. Hispanics are under attack. Minority voting rights are under attack. The poor are under attack. Unsurprisingly, those doing the attacking in every case are from the right.
Never mind the absolute lunacy in trying to paint the actions of three young boys as representative of millions of adults and the fault of Republicans. And let’s forget that Charles has nothing but disdain for the Republican Party anyway, so it’s easy for him to infer that these children must be Republicans doing the bidding of their GOP Overlords. Let’s focus on this:
Women are under attack. Hispanics are under attack. Minority voting rights are under attack. The poor are under attack. Unsurprisingly, those doing the attacking in every case are from the right.
Really? Yeah, I don’t think so. Let’s look at a few statements and actions from the ‘tolerant left.’
“Could it be that the GOProud guys are just attracted to Mitt Romney’s sons?” Joy Behar on why GOProud endorsed Mitt Romney.
Right, because inferring that gay men aren’t capable of making a decision based on anything other than what Romney’s sons look like isn’t degrading or insulting at all.
How about a group of LGBT activists standing in the White House posing for photos while flipping the bird at portraits of Presidents Reagan and Bush? I only ask because it took about 8 seconds for a reporter interrupting President Obama, which I think was very disrespectful, to be deemed a hate-filled act of a racist which took place solely because President Obama is black.
What about Dan Savage calling GOProud “The GOP House Faggots” when they endorsed Mitt Romney? I guess taking an insult that is generally used to degrade African-Americans that don’t toe the leftist line close enough to suit some folks and tweaking it so it can be used to attack gays and lesbians is no big deal.
Keith Olbermann calling Michelle Malkin a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick” and inferring S.E. Cupp’s parents should have aborted her?
How about Ed Schultz calling Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut?” Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin a “c**t” and then trying to defend it as somehow ‘different?’
Or how about the guy that took a not-s0-veiled shot at Mitt Romney’s religion when he said “stick that in your magic underwear?” You know that guy, right Charles? Yeah, that was you.
Are any of these disrespectful actions and bigoted, intolerant comments somehow better than what those three kids did to that bus monitor? In Charles M. Blow’s world they must be. After all, he said in every case these attacks come from the right. So what are we to assume? That he doesn’t think any of these are inappropriate? Or that he thinks what three young boys did is an indictment of the entire right, but the actions of many Liberal adults with huge platforms isn’t an indictment of the left? Please.
Maybe Charles should spend more time worrying about policing the vile, misogynistic, bigoted garbage that comes from the mouths of so many adults on his side on the political spectrum before he makes the laughable leap that the reprehensible actions of three children represent the entire Republican Party.
