I could go back and link all the posts I and others have written explaining how it is a travesty that Media Matters is still enjoying tax-exempt status as a “non-partisan” organization. It’s a flat-out lie. Everyone knows it. And I understand that all 501(c)(3) organizations push the envelope and stretch the limits of what “non-partisan” means, but Media Matters is hands down the worst offender.

Now, courtesy of FreeBeacon.com, we have yet another example of just how partisan the “non-partisan” group is:

Ari Rabin-Havt, executive vice president of Media Matters for America (MMFA), was overheard speaking to colleagues about his plans for a new MMFA fellowship, and bragging about a phone call he had received from Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager for the Obama re-election team.

This isn’t a case of Media Matters having meetings with the White House. This is Media Matters talking to Obama’s CAMPAIGN. There’s a difference. A White House relationship can be seen as non-partisan. There is no such wiggle room when they’re talking to a CAMPAIGN official. None.

I will repeat what I’ve often said about Media Matters: I do not care that they exist. They’re free to be morons all they want. I do have a problem with them not paying taxes, though. They’re always talking about “fairness.” Well, what’s fair about a blatantly partisan operation having the advantage of not paying taxes when others have to deal with it?

This crap has to stop. Paging the IRS!
