Is This Why Carbonite Dumped Rush But Not Ed Schultz?

A lot of folks have been asking why Carbonite would choose to pull its ads from Rush Limbaugh’s show for referring to activist Sandra Fluke as a “slut” but they still advertise on Ed Schultz’s show after he referred to Laura Ingraham the same way. I wonder if the fact that Carbonite’s CEO, David Friend, is an Obama donor has anything to do with it? From Open Secrets:

Seems to me what’s good for the goose ought to be good for the gander. Then again, consistency has never been a strong suit of Obama supporters now has it?

wish I’d known that before I signed up with them…..at Rush’s recommendation.

I see the problem here. No, Carbonite left Limbaugh instead of Schultz because Limbaugh called a 21-year old woman a slut and a whore on international radio for three days last week because she had the nerve to assert her First Amendment rights and spoke one time before Congress about the actual medical importance of women’s contraception. Limbaugh observed her testimony, ignored what she actually said, then lied about what she said, and repeatedly doubled down with more and more vile nonsense about a woman who had never done him wrong in front of an audience of millions.
And Ed Schultz did not.
Now you know what happened, you can move on.
You’re welcome.
Remarkulus, maybe you should put away the kool-aid before making a fool of yourself again as you just did.
1)She was not a 21 year old college student, she is a 30 year old political activist and that has been a known fact since this whole mess started.
2)Obviously you did not hear Limbaugh’s entire monologue on the matter, only the selected sound bites the MSM wants you to be “outraged” over. He was pointing out how absurd it was for this “college student” to complain she can’t get contraception because it costs too much money when she is attending a law school that costs her nearly $60K a year. Limbaugh even pointed out during his bit where in the Georgetown area people could go to get free contraception. Fluke and Democrats using her as a prop to say how she can’t afford the pills or condoms is almost as absurd when an NBA player making $15 million year says he can’t feed his family on that.
3)She did not testify before Congress, she testified before a closed group of Democrats, who are doing nothing more than trying to make the GOP look like a bunch of woman haters since Obummers poll numbers amongst women have been in the toilet. This has all been a staged front to give their MSM puppets something to talk about as an excuse not to talk about $5 gasoline, longest mass unemployment since the Depression and everything else that would get a Republican President crucified nonstop.
4)A woman who had never done him wrong? Ed Schultz did not? Seriously, what crack are you smoking. What did Laura Ingraham personally do to Ed Schultz to make him call her a slut? I mean besides not drinking the kool-aid and having a political philosophy different than his? What did Sarah Palin do to Schultz for all the horrible things he has said about her? Again besides her being right wing?
Thank you for your version of fantasy land this morning, it was quite funny.
Yes, it’s like when Libs post nasty things about Andrew Breitbart it’s not ok, but when Andrew Breitbart posted nasty things about Ted Kennedy on the day he died, that was ok!
Then again, consistency has never been a strong suit of any party supporters now has it?
“Democrats, who are doing nothing more than trying to make the GOP look like a bunch of woman haters”
LOL, no pal, the GOP doesn’t need any help on that front.
Seriously, if the GOP had a plan to drive away half the population, what’s left unchecked on that list? Jail time for public breast feeding?
Got everything else covered.
98% of Catholic women used birth control. Somehow that was something picking a fight over seemed like a great idea.
FFS is the male population even 98% behind beer? How much clearer could this be?
“She was not a 21 year old college student, she is a 30 year old political activist and that has been a known fact since this whole mess started.”
What is your point other than this is more moronic than first imagined?
Yes, the person advocating for birth control for women went to a hearing and advocated for birth control for women.
Calling her a slut is therefore more or less retarded than if this wasn’t her job.
I’ll save you the trouble, it’s more.
Frank, nice deflection. The comment about her age was to correct the original commenter Remarkulus. Second, if your numbers are correct, then it really destroys your point. If 98% of Catholic women are already on birth control (I’d really love to see where you got this number), why should the Catholic Church have to pay for it if those women can already afford it? I would hazard a guess to say the 2% holding out are actually sticking to dogma about contraception.
Again, the problem IS NOT contraception, it’s paying for it. And it isn’t just contraception the government is forcing the Catholic Church to pay for, it’s also abortions and sterilization. So save me the medical conditions for contraception before you even go there: this is a government overreach.
I’d love to see some proof of that patently absurd 98% statistic. If you left-wingers knew anything about statistics, you’d know that anything above 90% is difficult to come by unless the ones gathering the data were completely begging the question to begin with.
Besides that, this is a fight about religious liberty and abortion being cloaked in condoms and pills. Anybody with half a brain can see it, and dragging a 30-year old woman on stage to pretend to be a 23-year old college student so you can force your narrative is reprehensible.
The Left is in an all-out war against the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, using threats to try and silence religious liberty and free speech.
Your little internet goon squads that go around posting left-wing propaganda can’t hide that fact, try as you might.
I’m going to have to disagree with everyone who says the point is “paying for birth control.” The point is, more people are out of work in America than was the case 3 years ago, the economy is in the crapper, a Democrat Congress has imposed health-care costs that are unsustainable on the American taxpayer without an honest discussion of the pros and cons or ultimate cost, our energy policy is further messing up our economy while the price of auto gas goes through the roof, our borders are porous and the current administration defends that reality, our Department of ‘justice’ has engaged in illegal arms trade and lied about it, our defense department is being gutted, and on and on and on. The “who pays for birth control” argument is a head-fake. The more important issue is our children are being put in hock and we argue about whether or not a 30-year old political activist law student at an expensive law school can get her birth control paid for?
Yeah, it couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that Schultz was suspended by NBC the next day, and apologized on that day, whereas Limbaugh pounded away at this line of “argument” for three days, and faces no punishment whatsoever from his employers. Nope, must be corruption and liberal bias.
Frank, you have one serious case of dumb ass. The GOP is trying to stop women from using birth control. No one has EVER advocated that. The Dems CLAIM that, but, as usual, they are lying. I challenge you to find one single statement from ANY GOP that they advocate restricting access to or banning birth control.
You have to be dumber than a post to believe that crap.
The issue is forcing religious institutions to PAY for birth control that includes abortifacients and sterilization agents when that is a violation of their beliefs. If you can’t see that’s a clear violation of the First Amendment then you just another dumbass liberal who hasn’t got a single clue what America is about.
Of course I meant the GOP is NOT trying to stop women from using birth control.
And yes, the reason Carbonite dropped Rush and not Ed is because the owner is a dumb ass liberal.
The 98% canard is bogus. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/the-claim-that-98-percent-of-catholic-women-use-contraception-a-media-foul/2012/02/16/gIQAkPeqIR_blog.html
It’s just another lie that liberals tell. They tell so many they can’t even keep them straight.
[...] Hypocrisy Watch: Is This Why Carbonite Dumped Rush But Not Ed Schultz? [...]
Simple answer: because a lot of people created a social media storm and threatened to boycott them for the Rush comment. I don’t remember a similar pushback to Ed’s comment. Money talks.
Rush said nothing out of the ordinary. Rush is an entertainer, like others who use that word, Slut. Not just that, but this 30 yr old ms Fluke, opened herself to being called a slut by going on tv to talk about how she is paying 60 thousand dollars for school, but she can’t buy contriceptives so she can go on her sexcapades whenever she wanted. Now, the only reason this contriceptive talk she did in front of congress was a response from this Obama Care demanding that all church related ministries, such as schools, and Church offices will have to pay for ALL contriceptives for employees. That is the ONLY reason ms Fluke came and spoke in front of congress. So, for carbonite to drop Rush will be a BIG Mistake for them to do so. There are other that do the same thing as carbonite, and they will feel the lost of the millions that follow Rush, all those who who has dropped Rush, they will be the ones that will hurt, they will have to cope with the lost of Millions that follow Rush, all over this one girl who loves to go on sexcapes at the expense of all us Taxe paying citizens. I don’t blame Rush for making a big deal over her. Keep it going Rush, we are all standing with you.
[...] Well, let’s answer that question, shall we? It turns out that Friend is a big money donor to Barack Obama, the very man that created this fake media narrative in the first place. Friend has given thousands of dollars to Obama. [...]
Just a dose of reality, Ed Schultz did apologize to Laura Ingraham, profusely and sincerely, and took a week off without pay in a mutually agreed upon suspension. Rush Limbaugh’s stock in trade is defamation and falsehood. His, Rush’s apology was a non apology. Call for all the boycotts you want, not against the law, and there have been a bunch of conservative boycotts , most not so successful , a few were, ie Dixie Chicks. Must say the general tone of this blog is utter nonsense.

“If 98% of Catholic women are already on birth control (I’d really love to see where you got this number), why should the Catholic Church have to pay for it if those women can already afford it?”
Because if they exclude it, they’re discriminating on the basis of sex. This was a ruling, confirmed by the courts and enforced during Bush’s first term. AKA they have to because it’s the law.
Also, nobody is preventing your access to google, should you wish to find that non-new figure just me any a few hundred people in the media have cited. Could be they’re all quoting me, ya think?
” I would hazard a guess to say the 2% holding out are actually sticking t
to dogma about contraception.”
Or they’re not being honest. Or celibate. Or lesbians. Either way, you’re missing the point. There’s no 98% of men who have sex with women. There’s no 98% of cars that get driven on roads.
“Again, the problem IS NOT contraception, it’s paying for it.”
No it’s not. Not if there’s no issue paying for Viagra. Want to argue about this and prove my point that this is designed to lose the votes of women?
Just like voter ID laws aren’t about hating on Mexicans. You can tell yourself that. But this will succeed in you convincing you. All the Latino voters…. well, they’ll make their own conclusion.
“And it isn’t just contraception the government is forcing the Catholic Church to pay for, it’s also abortions and sterilization.”
Actually the free market does this. The Catholics did some internal surveys of their institutions a while back on this issue and concluded most already cover abortions because these are covered in most plans and seeking out plans which don’t isn’t economically viable.
” So save me the medical conditions for contraception before you even go there: this is a government overreach.”
I didn’t mention any medical conditions for contraception. Why would anyone explain this to you. That’s your parents job.
“Frank, you have one serious case of dumb ass. The GOP is trying to stop women from using birth control. No one has EVER advocated that. The Dems CLAIM that, but, as usual, they are lying. I challenge you to find one single statement from ANY GOP that they advocate restricting access to or banning birth control.”
I challenge you to explain what that’s got to do with me or what I wrote. Frank is a man’s name. You’ve missed the point.
However, Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of contraceptives and related advice. An institution that an overwhelming majority of women polled have a positive opinion of, and for a portion of women it is their only accessible health care provider.
Maybe you believe anyone would struggle to find a million calls for it to be defnded and shut down as a holocaust shop.
Again, we can argue about this or you can remember my name is Frank.

Frank is an idiot. Planned Parenthood is NOT a healthcare facility, nor is this about providing poor people with condoms and birth control.
This is about governmental over-reach into religious-based organizations, so the government will be able to dictate your beliefs to you, because “it’s the law, so shut up and do as your told, you right-wing wackos”.

I did the chat line and told them I wouldn’t not use their product because they were cowards, and caved in the face of Media Matters.
They became a household word due to Rush, and now that is gone.
Working people listen to talk radio, loafers are on the couch watching Oprah.
The he11 with Carbonite.
Keep the pressure on Carbonite. Their stock price has fallen over 10 percent since their CEO made his “piling on” statement against Rush. Tell your family and friends never to use Carbonite products.

El Rushbo may have used the wrong word to desribe Fluke, but she put herself out there in a very misleading way. From her age to why she choose to attened Georgetown, she is fraudulent on several fronts. Limbaugh apoligized to her, & of course she refused. Liberal progressive hacks never accept apoligies of any sort. Limbaugh should learn from the Imus idiocy involving Sharpton. Sharpton was never going to accept any apoligies, even though he demanded them, & the same thing with Fluke. Limaugh should move on & work to destroy those companies who bailed on him. Carbonite looks like they may be on their way. It’s time to destroy buisinesses that are run by those who sympathize with leftists & contribute to their political organizations. It’s time to purge them from the market. It’s not just folks who run buisinesses who can “go Gault”, but so can the market. Kill off those buisinesses who don’t stand for free speech, we will be a better nation without them.
The hard left (i.e., Dear Leader and his ilk) don’t care about consistency or double standards. We are dealing with children here. They want what they want and will do and say anything to get it. Conservatives just need to SHUT UP, according to them. Our mere presence is insulting to them. Note that Carbonite’s stocks have slammed down. We have the numbers and the power. Simply BOYCOTT advertisers who pulled from Rush. If they are so in love with the left and it’s tender and compassion crap, then let the left support them. Rush DID make a mistake by making this nobody fluke a somebody if only for a few days.
