Once again Keith Olbermann is putting his asshattery on display for all the world to see. This time he had his buddy Markos Moulitsas on his Current TV show, and Markos made an unbelievable statement regarding alleged sexual assaults taking place during different ‘Occupy Protests.’ From Big Journalism:

This movement has gone far beyond the actual protests themselves. The message itself has taken on its own meaning.  It’s sort of kind of almost broken free from the Occupy protests, so they can be as filthy and they can rape people — if you want to make stuff up —but the fact is nobody really cares about it because that message isn’t about the messenger, it’s not about who’s delivering a message, but it’s about the message itself which really resonates at a very core emotional level with people who are suffering in this economy.

Olbermann allowed that statement inferring the rapes were ‘made up’ and ‘no one would really care about them anyway’ to go completely unchecked, even though it’s common knowledge arrests have been made for sexual assault and rape. Not to mention the efforts to discourage victims to report them to police are also widely known, Olbermann chose to remain silent. In fact, Big Journalism documents some of these despicable crimes and cowardly actions in their post calling out the ridiculous statement by Markos on Olbermann’s show. Olbermann’s response to that post was this tweet:

Sadly, this is par for the course for Olbermann. Remember when he had Michael Moore on to talk about Wikileaks founder Julian Assange? I do. Not only did Michael Moore post part of his bail, he went on to comment that we actually owed Assange a debt for what he had done with Wikileaks.

Then it got worse. When the subject of Assange’s potential rape charges came up, guess what Michael Moore had to say? He immediately referred to them as “smears and lies” and floated the idea that the perhaps governments or corporations were setting Assange up. He finally just referred to the whole thing as ‘hooey.’” Of course, Olbermann didn’t bother to challenge that statement either. He once again remained silent.

Of course when it comes to Republicans, he sings a very different tune. Back in 2010, he accused Red State’s Erick Erickson and others of being ‘racist white guys’ for using the word “cocky” to describe President Obama. But when I pointed out that President Obama had used the exact same word to describe Republicans, he said he’d “never heard that one.”

Or how about Senator Scott Brown? During one of his campaign rallies, someone in the crowd made a crude remark about putting a curling iron into Martha Coakley’s backside. It was obvious that Senator Brown didn’t hear the remark and his “We can do this!” remark was to someone else. But that didn’t stop Olbermann from using it to bash Brown. He used that event to call Brown, a “tea-bagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees” in addition to some other crude remarks.

This is the hacktastic game Keith Olbermann plays. He’s willing to allow any type of statement to be made and go unchecked when they are in defense of a liberal viewpoint or person with whom agrees.  You see it in the tweet above.  Despite overwhelming evidence to contrary, he just denies that rapes, sexual assaults, and efforts to keep them quiet took place at all. But when it comes to a Republican or someone with whom he disagrees? He’s willing to perform any level of mental gymnastics in order to attack them. He’s not a journalist, he’s a clown.

  1. Remember, Olbermann is the guy who stalked Uconn basketball player Rebecca Lobo, according to this site – http://jedeckert.com/post/367234776/olbermann-in-freefall
