Dear Obama/Rubio Birthers:

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES

169 U.S. 649

United States v. Wong Kim Ark

APPEAL FROM THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA

No. 18 Argued: March 5, 8, 1897 — Decided: March 28, 1898

A child born in the United States, of parents of Chinese descent, who, at the time of his birth, are subjects of the Emperor of China, but have a permanent domicil and residence in the United States, and are there carrying on business, and are not employed in any diplomatic or official capacity under the Emperor of China, becomes at the time of his birth a citizen of the United States, by virtue of the first clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution.

Shorter SCOTUS: A child born in the United States, of alien parents not serving in a diplomatic capacity, acquires United States citizenship at birth via the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

See? If you’re born in the United States, your parents could be from Mars. Doesn’t matter. Now please stop.

Yes, they are citizens of the US as is my husband, but they are not “Natural Born” citizens of 2(TWO) parents who are citizen of these United States, and thusly, not eligible to run for POTUS. Educate yourself, Mr or Ms Elite.

  2. Tommy says:

:::SIGH::: —> “acquires United States citizenship at birth.”

  3. Phil Tevlin says:

I was born in the Bermuda Islands on a U. S. military facility in 1951. My birth certificate was issued by the U.K. colonial government, and not by any U.S. government agency. Should I run for President, the “Birthers” would make an issue of this.

  4. msbetz says:

The Constitution: A natural born citizen has 2 parents that are both Americans.

  5. Montana says:

Mitt Romney’s Mexican father, hmmmmm…….Are the simple minded “BIRTHERS”, going to ask Romney for his birth certificate? We all know this was never about a birth certificate, if it was then these same people would be asking Romney for his. It’s about small minded people who hate African Americans and do not have the brains to review a President’s policy so they make something up. So sad, so sad.
