Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum may well see where his future is in the GOP Primary, and it includes taking it to Newt Gingrich. Here’s the newest ad released by the Santorum campaign.

 

This strategy plus recent polling that suggests Santorum could be more competitive against Obama than Gingrich may be a harbinger of yet more interesting twists ahead. Additional polls suggest Santorum could be more successful heads-up against Mitt Romney in a two-man race than Gingrich as well. Is it time for Rick to turn the tables on Newt and suggest that it’s really he who should drop out?

Stay tuned, for if we know nothing else, this race may just have a few more wrinkles left.

UPDATE (February 1, 2012 5:50PM EST): Today the Santorum campaign released a new radio ad that removes all doubt as to their tactics moving forward are to attack Newt Gingrich and portray Rick as the only true conservative in the race with a chance to beat Obama.
