When your job is to bark when your masters tell you to bark, it is very easy to say stuff that will come back and haunt you. That’s why I get so much enjoyment out of pointing out the flaming hypocrites and hacks at Media Matters.

One of my favorite targets is “Senior Fellow” Eric Boehlert who is constantly getting punked by life. Behold!

A few days ago, when everyone was busy dealing with Christmas and Chanukah, Gallup was doing what Gallup does: They constantly poll people asking whether they approve of the President’s job performance. They publish these poll results daily. It’s a “tracking poll.” Anyway, on or about the 26th, Gallup published the three day polling results from December 21-23. Like I said, right when people aren’t paying attention to politics and focusing on the upcoming festivities. Obama got a whopping 47% job approval rating in that three day period – note, at the same point in his presidency, Bush was at around 60% – which prompted a few whiney tweets from “media critic” (read “professional whiner”) Boehlert.

That was the first one (the link is to the same tracking poll I linked above). Basically, Boehlert is laughably trying to suggest that the media has it out for Obama. They’re not reporting the big news because it’s the “#wrongnarrative”, presumably meaning the “#rightnarrative” is Obama is flailing. But in Eric’s world the “#rightnarrative” isn’t true, even though it is true. (I know it’s tough to follow but you have to remember that his job is to lie… constantly. He’s under strict orders to convince people that reality isn’t real.)

The pedantic whiner followed up that tweet with another.

Again, the media is out to make Obama look bad – according to Boehlert – so they ignore Obama’s stellar approval ratings on Gallup. 47% approval is apparently something to be proud of when you’re supposed to be one of the four greatest Presidents ever.

Oh, the whining isn’t done, folks. There’s more.

Oh, I see. Boehlert doesn’t vouch for Gallup – as if Gallup needs a professional smear merchant to vouch for them – except for this one time where he’s vouching for them and demanding the press make a big deal about a sub 50% approval rating. And of course a 37% approval rating is going to make news a year out from a general election. No President in modern history has had numbers this low at this point in their first term. How is that NOT news, Eric?

Today, Gallup has Obama at 41% approval and 50% disapproval. Do you think Boehlert is demanding the press cover the sudden 6 point drop since Monday? Of course not. Will the Media Matters Senior Fellow mention the poll? Doubtful. But you know he’s seen it so you can enjoy knowing how bitter he is right about now.

I know I’m enjoying it.
