Men’s Wearhouse thought they’d show their support of the “Occupy” movement by shutting down their Oakland store and putting up a sign.

Before:

After:

Any questions?

It’s the same window. The protest the store was standing in “solidarity” with went ahead and broke the very same window anyway.

It wasn’t the “Occupy” movement that broke the window. I love these people just quit to point out, “Oh no a broken window, this is what Occupy is all about, breaking a few windows!” Clearly it is not what the movement is about. But you need something to shame them for. This is like saying if a US soldiers who rape in other countries, means all US soldiers are rapists and rotten.

  2. Allen Stegall says:

    Poetic.

  3. ximang says:

the people who broke the window are not from occupy Oakland, they are from the Oakland Liberation Front, which has not been a part of the General assemblies or the occupy movement!

  4. RB says:

    Hi David,

Yes it was the “Occupy” movement who broke that window. Stop being stupid.

  5. RB says:

    Hi ximang,

Sorry. It doesn’t work that way.

  6. Savannah says:

Every Group has extremist. Oakland needs to get there majority together and press out these extremists who are giving the Occupy movement a bad name.
Also, aren’t the police there to protect and serve? If so how come a person got killed last night at Oakland by a car? And how come a Soldier got seriously injured by the police?
I don’t agree with the violence. At. All. But I think we need to look at both sides of the coin and not just write off the Occupy Protesters because of the actions of a small group of idiots. I don’t write off the police force because the hurt a US Serviceman

  7. oldercrow says:

Not broken by OccupyOakland, see video here of man who broke window.

  8. David says:

@RB Oh ok, I guess that means all US soldiers are rapists, and all cops are bad apples then since a few of them do some corrupt things.

You are clearly an ignorant individual and the “deep context” of your post consists of a photo of a broken window. Wow, what a great analysis of the situation and ongoings around the world and in the USA.

  9. RB says:

    Dear Occupy Oakland loons,

This was YOUR protest and YOUR people. They’re all “the 99%” remember? “Solidarity” and stuff?

    How soon you forget.

OWN IT you cowards. OWN IT.

  10. Mitchell says:

It wasn’t done by the Judean People’s Front! It was the People’s Front of Judea! SPLITTERS!

  11. Tommy says:

How convenient. Now you can avoid responsibility for anything that happens by merely asserting they didn’t take part in a “general assembly” or “the movement.”

I call “point of process” (:::makes triangle with both hands:::) on David because the military has nothing to do with this subject and you need to stay on topic. Additionally, I need to ask “ximang” a “clarifying question” (:::forms ‘C’ with one hand:::) How do you know who did or did not attend these assemblies or is part of the movement? Did you take roll or do you guys have a sign-in sheet? In closing, I must give “downtwinkles” (:::does downtwinkles hand gesture thingy:::)to the lawlessness that is taking place at these protests all across the country.

  12. Jose says:

So THOUSANDS of Occupiers couldn’t stop a ‘small minority’ of people who were ‘extremists’ REALLY?!

  13. milowent says:

herman cain clearly broke this window. with his dick.

  14. acctgwarrior says:

Is it me, or is there poo on the broken window? I see poo. But no one else has mentioned it.

  15. The entire “occupy” goon squad is spoiled brats, anarchists and socialists. Violence is their game. It’s what community organizers and their weak-minded followers do.

  16. Lizbuddie says:

Why do so many of these #occupy folks feel the need to cover their faces, if they aren’t doing anything wrong?

  17. “Every Group has extremist. (sic)”

Yes, and apparently the violent ones feel right-at-home in OWS.

  18. Zombie OWS says:

Not poo, just an optical illusion. It’s the hole in the glass, you can see the face on the poster behind it.

  19. Amber says:

Hey David, It’s not like anyone has to scour the internet to look for evidence of these idiots being idiots to “shame” them. They do that all by themselves.

  20. acctgwarrior says:

Never mind. It’s not. Believe me, I don’t look for these things. But my vision was 20/700 in 1975, and it has not improved in the intervening years.

  21. SpiritOfMadison says:

    “Every Group has extremist.”

Yes and one lot is comprised most entirely of extremists. 100+ rampaging marauders does not a ‘small group’ make.

Sorry cupcake but when you gathered together a large group of marxist potheads did you really expect a different outcome? Of course not! What you invariably end up with that concoction is an unrestrained riot with broken windows and burning stuff.

I don’t expect you to be old enough to remember the ‘peace and love’ filled hippie riots of 68, but it’s apparent one must be a mere Puberty +5 if your cultural memory doesn’t extend back a decade to a place named Seattle.

Look up Seattle riot and what do you get? Marxist potheads in funky bandanna masks chanting the exact same slogans as your lot… while smashing windows and lighting stuff on fire. Wait another 10 years, and the next batch of puberty +5 potheads will again ‘play revolution’ which will look and evolve exactly like yours.

You see, there is a reason why marxist riots are 99% comprised of young kids who only just recently began growing hair in funny places… most kids eventually grow up.

  22. You lefty OWSholes want it both ways. You want to claim everyone who shows up at your protests is united in solidarity with you so you can claim to have massive support. Then, when one of those people does something wrong, you want to claim “Oh, he wasn’t really one of us.”

  23. Also, you incite people to violence by telling them that the 1% is stealing from them and they have the right to take it back. You break the law by illegally occupying public spaces and tell people they have the right to break the law because their cause is just. You let violent radicals address your protests. Then, when something violent happens, you disavow it and say it wasn’t really your team. You guys are so full of crap.

  24. [...] The Men’s Wearhouse thought they would be safe from the rioting by shutting down their store and putting up a sign to show they “stand with the 99%.” But it did them no good. The mob smashed their window anyway. (via The Right Sphere) [...]

  25. Isaac says:

    @Lizbuddie

Protesters are covering their faces to minimize the effect of tear gas.

    @RB
I was right there when this happened. I participated in stopping violent destruction of property. That’s why I was there.

Have you ever tried to stop a rock that’s flying through the air in the middle of an area that is being tear gassed? You probably haven’t.

  26. joe.attaboy says:

The really ironic thing, no matter who the dick was who broke the window, is that the CEO of Men’s Wearhouse is a major left-winger (although he profits from commerce with the public) who once claimed he didn’t pay enough in taxes (but we’re still waiting for that extra check to arrive at IRS headquarters).

I really only have one question for the protesters: why the hell would anyone want to occupy Oakland anyway?

  27. Matthias says:

So is the new motto: “We* are the 99%!**”

*By “we” we mostly mean “I” in the sense that *I* would like to speak for a group that has no real leadership in order to expel people who make us look bad. By “expel” I don’t mean that I will ostracize them or exclude them from anything, but more that I will blame you for attributing anything they do to me.

**Except for those guys who are technically part of the 99%, but not the specific part of the 99% that we would like to be associated with. Sure, we’ll count them when we give you our rally numbers but they don’t represent what we stand for. Except when they do. Example: 5 minutes before they break the glass, they are part of Occupy Oakland. When they break the glass they are *not* part of Occupy Oakland. Then, 5 minutes later, they *are* part of Occupy Oakland. Using this very simple metric we can deduce that Occupy Oakland is responsible for none of the vandalism.

    QED

  28. RB says:

    Hello Isaac,

    Here’s a cookie.

You’re still responsible for the vandalism. This is your movement. This is your “we are the 99%” and the “1% is stealing from us” movement. YOU, with your incoherent and ignorant friends created this. OWN. IT.

You wanted this. You got it.

  29. Isaac says:

    @RB

I do not appreciate your condescension.

You have no perspective on how much property was protected by protesters. The Oakland Liberation Front is not part of Occupy Oakland. Take a look back to the Oscar Grant riots, do you remember how many windows we’re broken?

    All of them.

The focus of Occupy Oakland IS NOT the destruction of property.

  30. RB says:

    Dear Isaac,

I don’t really care what you do or don’t appreciate.

And YOU are still responsible for ANY vandalism that occurs at one of YOUR protests. Period.

  31. “The Oakland Liberation Front is not part of Occupy Oakland.”

We’re not the People’s Judean Front. We’re the People’s Front of Judea.”

Again, same game. When you want to brag about your numbers, everybody who shows up is part of you. When a number of those same people commit violence (that you guys incite with your rhetoric and lawlessness), it’s “Oh, they aren’t ‘technically’ part of group.”

Maybe you should issue ID cards so there’s no ambiguity in the future.

  32. Isaac says:

This is what you can’t see in your photos.

And now it’s time for me to stop feeding the trolls.

  33. RB says:

    Isaac,

    That changes nothing.

Also, since this is MY blog post, you’re the troll.

  34. Isaac says:

Ha, because trolls can’t start blogs.

  35. RB says:

I thought you were leaving, troll… I mean Isaac?

  36. joe.attaboy says:

    @Issac,

I’m just an old working guy, but I have a few condescending questions of my own.

You claim that the protesters cover their faces to minimize their exposure to tear gas. So, if your protest was so peaceful and non-violent, why do you suppose it was necessary for the police to use tear gas? I would think that just peacefully walking down the street carrying a sign or banging a drum wouldn’t provoke even the most aggressive law-enforcement agency to gas anyone. And yet, there you are.

And, no, I’ve never had to stop a rock flying through the air in an area being tear-gassed because…well, I don’t participate in rock-throwing events that result in tear-gassing. I go to work. I have responsibilities to my wife and my family, and myself. I need to house, clothe and feed my family, because I figured out a long time ago that no one was going to give me anything for free, and if I chose to get married, own a home and do all those other things I wanted to do, I would have to support myself. This process is, apparently, something foreign to your organization, since what their doing results in rock-throwing, broken windows, graffiti, and tear gassing. Perhaps I’m missing something?

As for the “focus of Occupy Oakland,” since it’s not the destruction of property, perhaps you can explain what it is? Maybe you can explain to all of us what the entire “occupy” movement’s focus really is, since none of us seem to be able to figure it out.

What I’ve gleaned is that everyone in the “movement” wants everything to be free, wants no one to actually *earn* anything, wants all forms of commerce and finance to end, and wants to be able to commit various infractions of the law (like trespassing, vandalism, sexual assault, theft, etc) and allow the guilty to be “handled internally” by some specious community committees, which will likely just yell at them and do nothing else. Or make hand signals at them.

Since most of us here really don’t wish to participate in this new order you’re trying to create, I have a suggestion. We kind of like things the way they are in American society, most of the time. Sure, there’s a lot of broken stuff, and most of us really don’t like the current political leadership. But we can handle that through the normal democratic process. Your “movement’s” ideas a ludicrous, dangerous and really not fit for this country’s society.

Therefore, I suggest you all pack up and head to Greece. Those folks are ripe for…well, something…and they can’t seem to get out of their own way, which means your “movement” will fit right in.

Grab a few rocks to bring with you when you go, okay?

  41. Joe Ghost says:

Just out of curiosity, if some OWS folk showed up at a Tea Party rally and quickly broke a bunch of windows and then departed, would the Tea Party be considered violent extremists? How about if one of the Tea Parties leaders was found guilty of dealing drugs, is the Tea Party as a whole a bunch of drug dealing (or at least drug dealer supporting) bastards? After all, the Tea Party is at least as responsible for its members as OWS is, isn’t it?

  42. RB says:

    Nice try, Joe.

Actually, no it wasn’t. It was an asinine attempt to pretend OWS is anything like the Tea Party.
