#OccupyWallStreet Protesters Go On Private Property And Threaten To Disrupt Business

Here’s something you never saw at a Tea Party event, rally, or gathering.
I’m actually amazed that this guy left that restaurant with a full mouth of teeth. The guy at the end of the video who was sitting at the bar and then went up to one of the extortionists – that’s what they are, don’t kid yourselves – looked like he was going to do something but backed off.
The spokesman – holding a beer he just bought from the “union buster” he’s protesting – couldn’t embody the entitlement mentality of the entire “Occupy” movement any better if he tried. Smug. Brazen. Dumb.
First, he is claiming to stand up for the rights of union workers by violating the rights of the restaurant owner and the people who went there to enjoy their evening. Second, the “offense” didn’t occur at the restaurant. Third, annoying people is probably the worst way you can get your message across. It’s stupid any way you look at it. They top it off by threatening to come back until the owner does what they demand.
Out in the real world, that’s a crime. It’s called “extortion.”
Extortion (also called shakedown, outwresting, and exaction) is a criminal offence which occurs when a person unlawfully obtains either money, property or services from a person(s), entity, or institution, through coercion.
The “service” in this example would be the owner of the restaurant hiring the union workers this scruffy kid wants Sotheby’s to hire. It’s on tape. The cops should stake out the restaurant and arrest this loon as soon as he goes back. End of story.
The broader issue here is that this movement supports this kind of unlawful activity. More importantly, unless the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other Democrats, like Nancy Pelosi, denounce this type of thuggery, they are endorsing it. The Left is desperately trying to legitimize the “Occupy” movement but reports of rape, theft, anti-semitism, and other craziness keep trickling out. This mob is getting increasingly out of control. The movement’s supporters should not be allowed to pretend their hands are clean when the situation inevitably gets worse.

The only ones threatening violence are you and your commentator. Irony. Who is really smug, brazen, dumb?
The cops should stake out the restaurant…
The cops are overpaid and lazy union goons. They will not do anything.
I don’t know why this jacka*** wasnt either thrown out of the restaurant or taken away in handcuffs.
And all the while to have the nerve to be drinking a beer.
Hello 911… can we get the cops over here, we have trespassers on our property.
Typical snotty mean-spirited selfish liberal.
It’s a mental illness.
“rb” – when someone enters your place of business – your PRIVATE PROPERTY – with the intent of disturbing the peace you better believe the owner and even the patrons have the right to remove the miscreant. Maybe the “protester” had a weapon, a hand grenade, a knife or a bottle of urine in his back pack. Perhaps he was insane.
And coupled with the well-documented incidences now of thefts, sexual assaults and anti-semitic and actual violent rhetoric coming from the “protesters,” I find that the irony falls upon your statement like the proverbial ton of bricks.
No one here is neither violent nor condoning violence, but merely expressing a righteous indignation at outrageous and brazenly illegal behavior. Thanks for your concern and your scintillating witticisms. Now, go return that $5,500 Mac laptop to the chick with the dreds over at the next tent. She seemed rather peeved.
So disrupting a private business and patrons who have nothing to do with the grievance helps their cause… how?
I don’t condone what this guy did or think it helps his cause, but calling it extortion is a bit of a stretch don’t you think? His only demand is fair treatment, and since you’ve pulled out the dictionary:
“coercion”
1. the act of coercing; use of force or intimidation to obtain compliance.
2. force or the power to use force in gaining compliance, as by a government or police force.
I watched that video a few times and all I saw was a guy being a nuisance. No evidence of force or intimidation, and it would only have been unlawful if they’d been asked to leave and didn’t comply. Thuggery? Gimme a break.
I also watched or read all the other stuff you linked to as supposed evidence of OWS becoming an unruly, dangerous mob. Please explain how these incidents are anything more than a reflection of society as a whole? Yeah rapes happen, people steal stuff, drunk people crawl into tents and sniff guys GF’s feet. So what? I’ve seen worse happen in the local KO campground. And as for the ever-popular anti-semite smear, videos like these jews celebrating with OWS easily put paid to that lame old tactic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wUyeFKBl4E
Seriously, RB, if you’re so intent on making OWS out to be some kind of violent angry mob, you’re going to have to actually show us examples that actually mean something.
The only ones I see resembling a violent mob are the ones carrying pepper spray, batons and plastic ties. And as for coercion, one of the clearest examples we’ve seen in recent history was Henry Paulson taking members of congress into a room and telling them there’d be civil unrest and martial law if they didn’t agree to authorize billions of your tax dollars to bail out his too-big-to-fail gambler- er, banker associates.
Isn’t nomarx cute?
Lawlessness growing and will continue to grow as it fanned and supported by Chicago thug Obama and Dems, the party of lies, corruption, and voter fraud.
Three guys? Do these layabouts have any idea how many restaurants Danny Meyer owns? Heh. Good luck with that.
I’m no scholar of the Constitution like our Pres, who supports mutts like these, but I can’t imagine they have the right to protest against a private citizen on his own property.
“Isn’t nomarx cute?”
Is that considered a witty retort here at The Right Bubble?
“Is that considered a witty retort here at The Right Bubble?”
You mean like “Right Bubble”?
I think the phrase “get off my lawn!” applies.
“Isn’t nomarx cute?”
You got me. Just trying to fit in.
And this is a surprise, why?
This is basic boilerplate of “community organizers,” also known as a special class of extortionists.
Before he became president, Obama did this for a living. No wonder he is the most divisive POTUS we ever had. A real uniter, that fella!
Occupy Wallstreeters collectively have the thinking power of a small rodent. … To be a democrat is to be ignorant, and or stupid and or corrupt. Period.

If you have read any of the emails the Big Government you will see all the proof needed to show this Marxist/socialist/anarchist Occupy movement has nothing to do with the middle class job crisis we are facing in this country. It is all about mob rule and revolution. Since the President and DNC has embraced this movement, does that mean they are on board with the agenda? Yes.
Strelnikov wanna be
Did I miss something? What’s the big scandal?
Apologies to RB for cluttering up his comments sections with my “cute” conspiracy ravings, but I have to keep harping on the following:
To all of you who think this OWS is a lefty plot orchestrated by Obama, I ask you to consider who helped him out with millions of dollars to put him in power. Below are some of Obama’s top campaign contributors and what they donated:
What kind of “change” do you think they were interested in seeing?
Goldman Sachs $1,013,091
Microsoft Corp $852,167
Google Inc $814,540
JPMorgan Chase & Co $808,799
Citigroup Inc $736,771
Time Warner $624,618
IBM Corp $532,372
General Electric $529,855
Morgan Stanley $512,232
By comparison, here are some of G.W. Bush’s top contributors in 2004.
Goldman Sachs $394,600
Citigroup Inc $320,820
Lehman Brothers $361,525
MBNA Corp $350,350
Credit Suisse Group $326,040
Bear Stearns $313,150
Ernst & Young $305,140
Wachovia Corp $279,310
Bank of America $218,261
Doesn’t it make you wonder, even just a teeny bit, that Goldman Sach’s supported republican Bush in 2004, then turns around and gives Obama over a million dollars in 2008? You can hurl all the insults and hate that you want, but all you’re attacking is a puppet every bit as hollow as his empty “change” slogans.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your political system, right and left, has been bought.
nomarx – you are just figgering this out? Brilliant. Now go look up “regulatory capture”, something anyone educated about the challenges and requirements of government rule are well aware of. Welcome to the party.
While you are excusing bad behavior by extolling how OWS represents a whole spectrum of society, we celebrate the fact that your stance validates the fact that the Tea Party represents the absolute best of us, since despite 10 times the scrutiny there was never a single event verified like the depraved and criminal ones that OWS seems to be generating every day.
So, you can have your spectrum. I’ll be happy to associate with your betters. Probably mine, too, but hey, pull-up works.
[...] no fidelity to the Constitution. OWS wishes instead to dismantle it. OWS presents itself as the philosophical, political, and moral doppelgänger of the Tea Party [...]
[...] Hat tip: Right Sphere. [...]
nomarx dressing this idiot’s demands up as “fair treatment” is highly disingenuous. I’m sure you think you are putting on the marvelous facade of the reasonable intellectual, instead of beclowning yourself.
This guy got fair treatment. For crap’s sake, he has a beer. This isn’t a 1960s sit in ok? Second, when you state you are going to come back and harass the owner until he resigns from his position on the board of Sotheby’s (whatever that is), that is a clear cut attempt at coercion. Sorry, the word touches on more than violence, in case that hadn’t made it into your egghead yet.
Oh by the way, you ought to do an op-ed on that revelation you have there (big business contributing big dollars). That’ll blow the whole sham wide open. You could be the next Woodward.
Surprised nobody has commented the obvious…..DOUCHEBAG!!
It is really a big shame to see the ignorance on this thread. People steal money right out of your pockets and you try to belittle the smarter people; who had the balls to stand up for this injustice. One day you too will know
Too bad I was not there. He would have found his way to the door real quick, with my help of course. These extortionists must be treated like the thugs they are. He may have a “right” to express his opinions, but…not on PRIVATE PROPERTY and in a disruptive manner threatening to disrupt this business until the owner complies with his demands. What part of extortion and coercion don’t these people understand. In reading this, if YOU don’t get it, you’re just as bad and part of the problem.
What injustice?

Hi West,
“you are just figgering this out? Brilliant.”
No, I’m not.
“Now go look up “regulatory capture”, something anyone educated about the challenges and requirements of government rule are well aware of.”
I’m well aware of that term, but judging from what usually passes for discourse on this blog, I thought using academic jargon would just get me called an egghead. Funny that in another comment thread, RB called me a conspiracy nut for bringing up what you rightly said anyone educated in the basics of gov would be well aware of. “Regulatory Capture” is exactly what I’m on about, though some call it “corruption” and others “fascism”. Its why I rail against the increasingly flimsy Right vs Left facade – both sides are bought with the same money and the resulting government is more or less functionally the same no matter who gets in, the “negative extrnality” being a pronounced “trickle up” effect. (for the record I consider myself neither right or left and I resent the labels if that wasn’t obvious)
“While you are excusing bad behavior by extolling how OWS represents a whole spectrum of society…”
I’m “excusing” and “extolling” how exactly? I concede Iron Yoshi’s point that I was overzealous in my use of the dictionary. I guess what I’m saying I don’t buy into the sinister significance you lend to this union stooge and his lame stunt, and to use it and RB’s other examples of miscreant antics to tar the entire movement is a spurious enterprise. When I see old ladies, war vets, marines, and even disillusioned Tea Partiers swelling the OWS ranks (no to mention obvious anti-semites being literally chased out of Zuccoti park), the “radical socialist anti semitic layabout” caricature RB paints just doesn’t wash. It looks more like a reflection of an rightwing bias than reality.
“we celebrate the fact that your stance validates the fact that the Tea Party represents the absolute best of us… So, you can have your spectrum. I’ll be happy to associate with your betters. Probably mine, too, but hey, pull-up works.”
While I’m wallowing in my moral inferiority, I’ll have you know that I too salute the Tea Party, in its original grass-roots essence, and have some family in the US who were very involved in the early days. I defended them from the snide dismissal of lefty friends of mine. But my cousins pretty much abandoned the movement as it acquired layers of Fox News, Sarah Palin branding.
I think this Tea Partier’s message to OWS sums things up:
“TEA PARTIER here. Help me help you (User Submitted)
Posted Oct. 13, 2011, 8:47 a.m. EST (8 days ago) by number2
I can participate fully in an anti-fascist movement, where our primary goal is to reform the corporate/government bond. Others of the so called “radical right” will join you too. Watch, you’ll be labelled the “new radical left”. Anyways, I think it’s important to refuse this label.
I want to be with you but there is only so far that I can compromise. Clearly, we’ve got some socialists here and I’m fine with that as long as I’m not asked to participate in that.
It would be great if if when the unions or msnbc came by, OWSers said: “out of respect for the whole spectrum of people we have in our membership, we can’t allow you to represent us.”
I have equal disdain for fox and the repubs btw. They should be refused as well but i don’t think they’re even trying with this group.”
Ladies and gentlemen, I’ll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties – we did. But you can’t hold a whole protest movement responsible for the behavior of a few, sick, twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t we blame protests in general? And if protests as a whole are guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our collective history? I put it to you, isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America!
