The institutional Left is in full “never let a tragedy go to waste” mode and are trying, desperately, to gain some political points in the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway on Friday. You see, for once, the attack wasn’t executed by radical Muslims. Instead, it was done by a lunatic who claims he’s a “right wing Christian extremist.”

Seeing their rare opportunity to pounce, the Left has been quick to flood the zone with smears on anyone who initially suspected that the attack might have been carried out by a Muslim extremists. Because speculating that a terrorist attack was conducted by groups who are responsible for the vast majority of terrorist attacks in recent history is somehow unreasonable. I’d argue it is unreasonable, even illogical, to speculate that it wasn’t linked to Islamic terrorism. Is the Left now arguing that simply speculating on something is wrong? If so, why were they speculating that an anti-ObamaCare nut was responsible for the failed Times Square bombing before we learned it was an Islamic terrorist? Oh, I know. The Left doesn’t hold itself to the same standards they hold everyone else to.

Now they’ve resorted to making things up.

A piece that appeared on National Confidential, Oliver Willis’ dreadful Drudge Report knock off, reveals the next phase of the smear campaign.

Controversial radio host Glenn Beck went a step too far, comparing the Norwegian youth camp attacked by an armed gunman over the weekend to “the Hitler Youth.”

Beck said the camp, where over 80 teens were mowed down, was “disturbing” because it was a political camp, which “sounds a little like… the Hitler youth.”

The article links to, you guessed it, a Media Matters video. This one:

Okay. Where did Beck go “too far”? Anyone?

What was the point of this article and video? Are Oliver Willis and Media Matters suggesting that it isn’t okay to think that a political camp for teenagers isn’t a little creepy just because they were the victims of a lunatic? Newsflash: It IS creepy. That doesn’t mean it is okay to gun them down, though.

But this is how the smear merchants work. Immediately after tweeting out the link to the post, Willis started receiving the desired results:

Seriously? Beck supporting a terrorist?

These are the same people who get pissed off if we say anything negative about the Boy Scouts at all.

I just threw up a little in my mouth

Those are tweets from Oliver Willis followers. Lemmings, really, which is why I didn’t list their twitter handles. They’re just dupes who don’t know they’re being played for useful idiots.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with what Beck said. He wasn’t supporting what the deranged gunman did. Anyone who thinks he was is a dullard. Anyone who tries to insinuate he does is a pathetic hack and deserves to be scorned.

It appears that http://www.nationalconfidential.com is overwhelmed with traffic at the moment. If a link from http://www.therightsphere.com can do this, it must be running on a Tandy TRS-80.

“the teenage republicans have a 5 day event right now training teenagers to be future”

Link? How old are the kids? Details. Lets AB compare.

Then lets go one step further. What if there were a Muslim Youth Camp, targeting 10-17 year olds, with ties to Saudi Arabia? http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/1792

What are they teaching and discussing at each of these camps?

  5. KP says:

I listened to that clip three times and not once did I hear any mention of ‘the Hitler Youth’. Ollie wouldn’t make up something like that, would he?

  6. RB says:

KP, he mentions it in the first minute. But that’s exactly the point. It was a comment made in passing and now it’s a HUGE scandal.
