Everyone’s favorite House budget hawk has decided not to run for retiring Sen. Herb Kohl’s seat in 2012, citing his position as Cairman of the Budget Committee and his power there. Former Gov. Tommy Thompson is now likely to run for the seat.
Rep. Paul Ryan is staying in the House, and won’t run for the U.S. Senate, two well-placed GOP sources tell National Journal.
Ryan began informing close friends of his decision Tuesday. Three GOP sources tell National Journal as soon as Ryan officially announces he won’t run for the Senate, former Wisconsin GOP Gov. Tommy Thompson, is expected to announce his candidacy for the Senate seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl, who recently announced he was retiring.

Can someone in the GOP get this guy to run for President! Conservative Democrat here begging you guys to get a candidate. You have no chance without new blood, it’s what voters are demanding. I’m only one vote but I think your unaware how many moderate Dems would vote in a fresh faced Republican. Get on it or your wasting your campaign donations.
