ThinkProgress Tries To Do Astroturf… And Fails (BONUS: Krugman gets laughed at)

ThinkProgress and the other smear merchants who make up the professional Left would like you to believe that Congressional Republicans are facing the kind of anger Democrats faced at town hall events in the run up to the ObamaCare vote. They would like you to believe that the November elections were an eternity ago. They would also like you to believe that the disaster Democrats have heaped on the country is suddenly the fault of Republicans and the “people” are fighting mad at them. The problem is that it’s all a lie.
As I noted earlier, what was supposed to be the start of a massive (and not just because Michael Moore is involved) pro-union movement is basically astroturf and even elected Democrats are cracking down on public sector unions. When Paul Ryan introduced his budget plan a couple of weeks ago, the hacks in the Lefty blogosphere were certain Republicans had sealed their fate. Then reality happened. November wasn’t a fluke. People are fed up with the out of control spending.
Of course, this doesn’t fit the narrative the Left is trying to keep going. So what do they do? They start making stuff up.
Andrew Stiles at NationalReview.com nabs ThinkProgress in the act:
Poor liberals. They were so desperate to see a “Widespread Public Outrage Over GOP Plan to Abolish Medicare” narrative emerge over the Easter recess — and I’m sure they genuinely thought it would happen on its own — but events on the ground simply haven’t lived up to expectations. And polls like this one must really make their heads explode.
Andrew then provides a couple of videos which show how desperate the Podesta – Soros blog is:
Wait? Did you see that edit around the 0:55 mark? What was that all about? ThinkProgress, who along with Media Matters, decries the use of “clever” or “misleading” editing whenever James O’Keefe comes out with a video couldn’t possibly be doing what they’ve denounced, could they? Let’s look at the full, unedited clip:
The best part is how the talking point parrot tries to avoid using Paul Krugman’s name, referring to him as “nobel prize winning economist.” When he does name the hack, the whole audience bursts into laughter. Remember, this was supposed to be an example of a town hall where Congressman Duffy was getting Tea Party-during-ObamaCare-debate-style flack for his support of Paul Ryan’s budget.
Soros money is being wasted. Good. Even better is the fact that the Left has to lie to give the impression that the Ryan / GOP budget is unpopular.
UPDATE: To wrap this up neatly and put a bow on it, John McCormack from the Weekly Standard took a picture of a protest outside a Paul Ryan Town Hall:
Yeah.
UPDATE #2: Now it’s just getting embarrassing. From another Paul Ryan Town Hall (via John McCormack):
