From Bluegrass Politics:

It won’t be available for holiday gifts this year but U.S. Sen.-elect Rand Paul of Bowling Green is writing a book entitled “The Tea Party Goes to Washington.”

The book will be about Paul’s plan and the Tea Party’s platform “to bring the U.S. government more in line with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to stop spending money the country doesn’t have, to stop borrowing, to balance the budget and reduce the size of the government,” said a release Monday from its New York publisher, Center Street.

Paul could not be immediately reached for comment about the book. His campaign manager, Jesse Benton, said in an e-mail, “Stay tuned for more, it is sure to be exciting.”

I’m split on this idea. For starters, nothing says career politician like “I’m writing a book.” Also, I wish he’d keep “tea party” out of the title and, for the most part, the entire text. The tea party as a movement by that name will be fleeting, and a manifesto on Paul’s brand of conservatism would provide a better impact in my opinion.

A book in and of itself though is not a bad idea when you look at what Paul plans to write about: “bring the U.S. government more in line with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to stop spending money the country doesn’t have, to stop borrowing, to balance the budget and reduce the size of the government.” Can I get an amen? A holla? Or you could just admit you’re jealous this guy will be my Senator.

But chillax on the term “tea party.” Make this have impact for years to come.
