Kentucky’s 6th district representative Ben Chandler said the following about the deficit, spending and the economy. Duct tape your head so it doesn’t explode:

“Before we can even begin to think about the deficit, we have got to get  the economy moving again,” Chandler said during the taping. In an interview afterward with the Herald-Leader, he added, “Show me any circumstance where you take money out of the economy and the economy gets stronger as a result. I just don’t believe that. If you  pull money out of the economy now, the economy will lose jobs.”

“Show me any circumstance where you take money out of the economy and the economy gets stronger as a result. I just don’t believe that.” Well, Ben, this may be hard to believe but the money the government gets typically is taken out of the economy anyway. It’s called taxes. If you cut those taxes, more people would have more money to stimulate the economy.

If you run a candy store, I come and take a quarter of your profits and tell you I can stimulate the candy business better than you can with it by buying more candy to sell, you’d call me crazy because I’d end up spending it on potato chips like I promised a lobbying group.

See that? In one sentence I took your money, prevented you from stimulating the economy and corrupted the entire process. Imagine how easy would be to people who actually do spend tax money. Wise up, Ben. You’ve got a little challenge ahead of you in Andy Barr.
